About EITR Technologies

EITR Technologies was built by technologists who are still billable today. We know what it means to be on-site and on-contract in the government space, and we built the company we always wished we worked for.

We're small on purpose. You won't be five layers deep in an org chart; you'll work directly with company leadership and senior government stakeholders, and you'll have a real say in our technical direction, tooling, and culture. Good ideas here turn into actual company offerings. We offer strong pay, industry-leading benefits, and a culture with no strings attached: come to our happy hours and game nights if you want, skip them if you don't. We hire adults and treat them like it.

About the Role

We're hiring a Network Engineer to support the enterprise and datacenter networks behind large high performance computing environments supporting national security missions. The scale of compute, storage, and interconnect in these environments is unusual even by HPC standards, and the networks that feed them carry traffic patterns most enterprise engineers never encounter.

You'll work across the full networking stack of a serious datacenter: core routing and switching, firewalls and load balancers, the storage and virtualization fabrics that tie systems together, and the high-speed interconnects that HPC lives on. The work spans day-to-day operations, upgrades and modernization, and evaluating new networking technology in a lab environment before it reaches mission networks, in close collaboration with government stakeholders, system administrators, engineers across multiple disciplines, and the OEMs whose gear the program runs.

What You'll Do

  • Engineer, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco routing and switching infrastructure (IOS, NX-OS) across enterprise and datacenter environments

  • Manage L2/L3 network operations: VLANs, routing protocols, spanning tree, and the switching architectures that connect thousands of hosts

  • Administer and troubleshoot ASA/FWSM firewalls, IPSEC VPNs, and F5 load balancers supporting mission traffic

  • Support high-speed and specialized fabrics, including InfiniBand interconnects, Fibre Channel SAN, and Juniper environments

  • Diagnose network performance issues end to end, working packet captures, flow data, and device telemetry to isolate problems that cross network, storage, and compute boundaries

  • Support the network side of datacenter virtualization, including VMware environments and legacy platforms (Solaris Containers)

  • Plan and execute network changes through maintenance windows, documenting configurations and procedures in Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) as you go

  • Help evaluate emerging networking, interconnect, and storage-fabric technologies in a lab environment before they're fielded on mission networks

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of network engineering experience supporting enterprise and datacenter network environments, or 5+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree

  • Strong TCP/IP fundamentals and hands-on experience with L2/L3 routing and switching

  • Hands-on experience with Cisco routers and switches (IOS, CatOS, and/or NX-OS)

  • Experience with one or more of the following: ASA/FWSM firewalls, F5 load balancers, IPSEC VPNs, InfiniBand, Juniper, Fibre Channel SAN, VMware, or datacenter virtualization

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, GSEC) — current, or ability to obtain prior to start

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph completed within the last 7 years

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting networks for HPC clusters, parallel file systems, or other large-scale storage environments

  • Deeper InfiniBand experience: subnet managers, fabric diagnostics, and performance troubleshooting

  • Cisco or Juniper professional-level certifications (e.g., CCNP, JNCIP)

  • Experience with network automation and scripting (Python, Ansible) for configuration management at scale

  • Familiarity with network security hardening and compliance in accredited DoD/IC environments (STIGs, vulnerability remediation)

  • Experience working directly with OEM vendors on escalations, RMAs, and pre-release hardware evaluation

Growth

This role is a strong fit for a network engineer who wants to work on fabrics and traffic volumes most engineers never see. At a company our size, the path from network engineer to lead, architect, or customer-facing roles is short and based entirely on performance.
